That's a wrap!

This morning I woke up far more relaxed than I have been in a long time. Dancing With The Stars is behind me. And while I'm sad it's over, it's a bit of a relief to not have to worry about steps, timing, or a Janet Jackson-esque wardrobe malfunction. It was a success.

And, it was a blast. The Utah Ballroom Dance Company rules. They are total pros, patient, and super cool people. I'm impressd. And my fellow contestants were incredible. What a fantastic bunch.

Last night was a blur. Leading up to the show, the thing I was the most nervous about was the introduction and the stairs we had to descend. I knew we would be paraded around, and that felt really awkward. Shaking my ass in a short gold dress? No problem. Parading around on stage while being introduced? Big problem. I would have done the salsa twice to get out of the introduction. But, it was actually fun. And it helps that you truly can't see the crowd when you're on stage. Though there was no missing  my rowdy friends and family!

The BIGGEST surprise of the night was my total lack of nerves. When Alex and I were getting ready to go out on stage, I was completely calm. Did not see that coming! And while we had a few minor bobbles, our performance was successful, and we ultimately took home the trophy.

I should probably mention that Alex told me during practice that he has a perfect winning streak with this dance. You know, not to add any pressure, or anything, just something worth mentioning. More than anything, I didn't want to be the one to break his streak. I'm relieved and happy for him that the streak lives on.

Thanks to each of you for choosing to share this experience with me. And thanks to those of you who were there cheering and voting. I am humbled by your kindness. And now, as I "may" have mentioned to my family, I can forever say that I won a dance competition that people paid good money to see. They will never hear the end of this!
